Overview
Our Founders
Susan and Guido Fetta are the founders and driving force behind NVE. Having met and become close friends with Fr. Paschal Onunwa, a local parish priest in Doylestown, they learned of his personal efforts to help his village, Alumaku, in Nigeria – and decided to found a non-profit organization to further assist in this effort. Thus, NVE was born.
Nigerian Village Empowerment (NVE) is a 501(c)3 organization founded in 2019 with the mission of providing assistance to Alumaku.
Learn MoreEconomic Statistics
Nigeria has overtaken India as the country with the largest number of people living in extreme poverty, with an estimated 87 million Nigerians, or around half of the country's population, thought to be living on less than $1.90 a day, according to the Brookings Institute.
In addition, more than 108 million Nigerians live without homes, and a majority of households in Nigeria drink contaminated water.
Learn MoreLife In The Village
Alumaku, is a small village of approximately 4000 people, in southern Nigeria. The residents of Alumaku do have running water when there is electricity to power the well which is very infrequently (a few times per month). The village has no roads and only a few villagers have electricity. Many people are under-nourished and it is not uncommon for villagers to subsist on a single meal a day. This includes young children and pregnant mothers.
Learn MoreMission
NVE’s objective is to help the people of Alumaku help themselves by funding seed projects with small amounts of money to help start small businesses that can provide jobs as well as providing products and services needed by the community. A few such example include: poultry farming, pig farming, a tailoring business, and a motorcycle taxi service.

We cannot resign ourselves to the immoral spectacle of a world in which there are still people who die of hunger, who are homeless, who lack the most elementary education, who cannot find work and who are unable to receive the necessary treatment when they are ill.
